About
One preparer who knows your name, and your return.
I’m Jacob, a CPA. I learned the work at KPMG, and started Girard Tax Services to bring that same rigor to people who’d never get it from a big firm: a real person who prepares the return, reviews it, and picks up the phone when a question comes up in October.
Every return is prepared and reviewed by me, never handed off. I’ll explain what I did and why, flag what to watch for next year, and keep your records safe in between.
- Massachusetts-licensed CPA
- Formerly with KPMG
- Authorized IRS e-file provider
- Continuing professional education every year
Our commitments
We’re new. Here’s what you can hold us to.
Every client this year is one of our first. That means your return gets the attention a new firm’s reputation depends on.
A reply within one business day
Calls, texts, and portal messages are answered by the person preparing your return, not a call center.
A flat fee, quoted before we start
You'll know the price after your consultation. It's based on the work involved, never on the size of your refund.
Your preparer, start to finish
The same person prepares, reviews, and files your return, and remembers it next year.
Help after April
Questions in July or a letter in October are part of the service, not a new engagement.
FAQ
Good questions to ask a preparer.
Don’t see yours? Call (508) 614-8144 or ask during your consultation.
How much does it cost?
Every engagement is quoted as a flat fee after your consultation, based on the forms and complexity involved, not the size of your refund. You'll know the price before any work begins, and it won't change unless your situation does.
What documents should I bring?
After your consultation you'll get a personalized checklist. Most people need last year's return, W-2s or 1099s, and statements for anything like mortgage interest, childcare, education, or retirement contributions. If you're not sure whether something matters, upload it and we'll sort it out.
How long does it take?
Most individual returns are ready for your review within 5–7 business days of receiving your complete documents. Business returns and more complex situations typically take 2–3 weeks. We'll give you a date up front.
Do I need to come in person?
No. Most clients work with us entirely online through the secure portal, with a phone or video call to review. If you'd rather sit down across a desk, in-person appointments are available at our office.
How do you keep my information safe?
Documents are exchanged only through an encrypted client portal, never by email. Access is protected with multi-factor authentication, and we follow the IRS safeguards required of every professional preparer under a written information security plan.
